Mechanism & Use

How LEINOS 810 resin lacquer primer works.

A fast-drying plant-oil primer that keys the surface, fills the grain and sands smooth — biocide- and aromatic-free, water-vapour permeable.

01

Plant-oil binder keys the surface

A plant-oil binder cures in air into a waterproof, elastic film that grips bare wood, metal and stone and gives the lacquer something firm to hold.

02

Titanium dioxide and fillers cover and fill

Titanium dioxide gives natural-white opacity while chalk and talc fill the grain and build an even, easily-sanded body.

03

Fast-drying, easily sanded

Dust-dry in about three hours and ready to sand and recoat the next day, so the lacquer system moves fast.

04

Biocide-free, aromatic-free

No in-can biocides and a dearomatised solvent, water-vapour permeable — made in Germany by Reincke Naturfarben.

Where It Lives

Where 810 lives

Windows and doors

Keying dimensionally-stable joinery before a silk-gloss lacquer.

Gates, sheds and soffits

Renovation over old coats

A fresh, sandable base once flaking paint is removed.

810 is the film-forming foundation of the LEINOS lacquer system — biocide- and aromatic-free, water-vapour permeable, made in Germany. It is a solvent-borne primer, not a toy- or food-safe finish, so clean tools with Verdünnung 200 rather than water and store oil-soaked rags under water or in a sealed metal tin. Step by Step

How to Apply

  1. Prepare the substrate — the surface must be dry, firm, clean, grease- and dust-free and only slightly absorbent. Strongly absorbent or rough-sawn wood is deep-primed with LEINOS priming oil first.

Indian craftsman wiping and sanding a bare timber window frame clean before priming
  2. Stir the primer — stir 810 thoroughly before use; if a skin has formed in the tin, lift it out rather than stirring it in.

Stir stick blending matt natural-white primer inside an open branded LEINOS 810 tin
  3. Apply one sparing coat — brush, roll or spray a single thin, even coat at surface and air temperatures above 15 °C. Apply sparingly, because too heavy a film dries poorly.

  4. Let it cure with airflow — dust-dry in about three hours. The film cures by taking up oxygen, so keep a fan running for air circulation and low odour while it dries.

  5. Sand to a smooth key — after 24 hours, sand with 150/180 grit and dust off to leave an even, matt key for the lacquer.

Hand sanding a dried natural-white primer coat on a timber window frame with a fine sanding block
  6. Build the lacquer system — overcoat with White Lacquer 820, Finishing Lacquer 840 or custom Mix 845. Clean tools with LEINOS Verdünnung 200 (not water) and store oily rags under water or in a sealed metal tin.

Application Conditions

  • Temperature above 15°C.

Coats & Recoating

  • One sparing coat. Sandable and recoatable after 24 hours; then overcoat with White Lacquer 820, Finishing Lacquer 840 or Mix 845.

Cleaning & Storage

  • Clean tools immediately after use with LEINOS Verdünnung 200 (thinner). Do not use water.
  • Store in a dry and cool place, protect from freezing. Shelf life in closed packaging is at least 2 years.

System & Substrates

One coat of 810, then two coats of 840. That’s the lacquer system.

On bare wood, metal or stoneware, prime once with Resin Lacquer Primer 810 — then build with White Lacquer 820, Finishing Lacquer 840, or custom-tinted Mix 845.

The Coating System

Primer plus topcoat — the full chain.

Substrate Fit

810 works on — and what it doesn’t.

Suitable

Recommended substrates

  • Windows and doors — dimensionally-stable joinery
  • Garden sheds, roof soffits and exterior gates
  • Fences, carports and palisades
  • Metal and steel — railings, grilles, gates
  • Stoneware and mineral surfaces
  • Interior wooden stairs and floors

Honest Limits

Where to use a different product

  • Strongly absorbent or rough-sawn wood — deep-prime with LEINOS priming oil first, then 810.
  • Exterior floors and stairs — on floors, 810 is for interior use only.
  • For a clear finish that shows the wood grain instead of an opaque lacquer system, use LEINOS 236 Terrace Wood Oil

Use With Care

Working safely with 810

  • Keep away from children.
  • Oil-soaked rags and materials can self-ignite — store under water or in a sealed metal container until disposal.
  • Wear respiratory protection when spraying; wear a fine-dust mask when sanding.

Coverage & Pack Sizes

Pick the right pack for the job.

Coverage assumes one sparing coat over a sound, only slightly absorbent surface. Absorbency and texture change the rate.

Full Declaration

Composition

Every ingredient declared on the label. The Trust Hub explains what each one does and the standards behind it.

  • Plant-oil binder

The film former — it oxidatively cures in air into a waterproof, elastic film that keys the surface and flexes with the substrate instead of cracking.

  • Titanium dioxide, chalk & talc

Titanium dioxide gives the natural-white opacity and covering power; chalk and talc fill the grain and build the easily-sanded body.

  • Isoparaffins

A dearomatised (aromatic-free) hydrocarbon carrier that lets the primer flow out, then evaporates during cure. Clean tools with LEINOS Verdünnung 200, not water.

  • Drying agents

Metal-soap driers catalyse the oxidative cure so the coat is sandable the next day and ready for the lacquer.

Frequently Asked

Quick answers on formulation, application and Indian-climate suitability. Pulled from our full FAQ and TDS library.

Oils penetrate the wood and enhance the natural grain, while lacquers form a protective film on the surface for higher mechanical resistance.
