Your Personal Colour

Wood is a living material — actual colour depends on species, grain density, and substrate age. Each shade you see here is a reference. Our specialists confirm the final match with you before specification.

Beyond the Standard Range

Custom NCS or RAL tinting at our Delhi lab — any architectural reference matched across the full colour palette. Bring the spec, take the shade home.

Natural tone deepens slightly under sun. Brownish and Reddish carry UV-screening pigment density that stabilises Indian hardwoods across monsoon cycles.

Mechanism & Use

How 236 terrace oil works.

Oil-resin finish that bonds inside the wood — with a built-in REACH-registered sapstain layer for tropical monsoon climate.

01

Penetration

Linseed oil soaks into the grain. No surface film to crack or peel.

02

Bonding

Natural resin cross-links the cured oil inside the wood fibres.

03

Breathability

Open-pore finish lets the timber move with monsoon seasons.

04

Sapstain protection

Built-in mould protection for outdoor timber under monsoon humidity.

Where It Lives

Where 236 lives

Goa villa balconies

Sea-facing teak decks under salt air and monsoon UV.

Mumbai rooftop terraces

Roof gardens and entertaining decks above the heat.

Boutique resort pool decks

Splashed timber around pools and patios, IPBC-protected.

Restaurant & café outdoor seating

High-traffic alfresco decking that needs a single-coat refresh.

Teak and bangkirai garden furniture

Tropical hardwoods that need to weather without greying out.

Pergolas, fences, exterior screens

Vertical and horizontal garden hardscape exposed to monsoon.

Step by Step

How to Apply

  1. Prepare the substrate — dry, clean, dust- and grease-free, absorbent. Sand off any film coatings (PU, varnish) if present. Solid sawn wood only, no painted or sealed substrates. For weathered teak, pair with LEINOS 940 Entgrauer before this step.

  2. Check conditions — surface and ambient temperature ≥ 10°C, wood moisture ≤ 15%, dry weather window (no rain forecast 48 h ahead). Avoid direct midday sun on the application surface.

  3. Stir 236 thoroughly — mix before brushing; ready to use, do not thin. Natural oils and pigments settle during storage and need to be re-blended.

  4. Apply the first coat — brush thinly along the grain. No puddles or excess pooling. Coverage approx. 140–250 sq ft per litre per coat. Wipe off any surface excess after 15 min if pooling appears. Touch-dry in 6–8 h at 20°C.

  5. Wait and check — recoatable after 16–24 h at 20°C and average humidity. Allow longer (24–36 h) in humid monsoon weather. No sanding required between coats.

  6. Apply the second coat — brush thinly, no excess. Allow 24–48 h cure before water exposure or footfall. Full cure 7–14 days. Dispose of oil-soaked rags in a sealed metal container or under water — spontaneous combustion risk.

Long-term Care

Extends the life of the finish over the years.

Substrate Fit

236 works on — and what it doesn’t.

Suitable

Recommended substrates

  • Teak (Indian and Burmese)
  • Bangkirai and ipé
  • Sal hardwood
  • Sheesham (Indian rosewood)
  • Pine, larch, douglas fir
  • Engineered exterior wood and treated timber

Honest Limits

Where to use a different product

  • Interior wood floors — use LEINOS 290 Interior Hardwax Oil
  • Painted, lacquered, or PU-sealed surfaces — substrate must be absorbent. Sand off existing film coatings first.
  • Children’s outdoor toys — the IPBC sapstain biocide makes 236 unsuited for direct toy use. Use 290 (interior) or 280 (countertop) for toys.

Use With Care

Working safely with 236

  • Store away from children.
  • Avoid release to the environment.
  • Risk of spontaneous combustion of oil-soaked materials. Store used cloths in an airtight metal container or in water before disposal.
  • Wear respiratory protection when spraying.

Full Declaration

Composition

Every ingredient declared on the label. The Trust Hub explains what each one does and the standards behind it.

  • Linseed Oil

Cold-pressed flax-seed oil — the LEINOS signature drying oil. Polymerises with oxygen to bond inside the wood grain. Plant-based, with centuries of fine-art and traditional wood-finishing pedigree.

  • Wood Oil (Tung)

Tung-tree seed oil, plant-derived. Co-binder alongside linseed for harder exterior cure under tropical sun and rain cycles.

  • Natural Resin (Rosin Ester)

Pine-derived natural resin ester. Cross-links the cured oil into a flexible matrix inside the wood fibres — the “resin” in the brand’s oil-resin chemistry.

  • Isoaliphatic Carrier

Plant-derived isoparaffin solvent carrier (40–50% by mass per Reincke SDS L-236). Evaporates fully on cure, leaving the oil-resin matrix bonded in the timber.

  • Sapstain biocide (IPBC) + Drying catalysts

REACH-registered IPBC biocide (0.1–0.6%) protects against blue-stain mould per EU Directive 528/2012. Manganese and calcium siccatives speed the oxidative polymerisation of the linseed-oil base. Disclosed per InVeNa full-disclosure pledge.
