White lime-painted wall in a Visakhapatnam children's space — LEINOS Anti-Mould Lime Paint 665 as the breathable, child-safe base for a hand-painted three-giraffe mural.

Children's space wall in Visakhapatnam — LEINOS Anti-Mould Lime Paint 665 white base behind a hand-painted three-giraffe mural.

Context

The brief, and the surface.

A smooth white wall in a children's space (nursery) was finished with LEINOS Anti-Mould Lime Paint 665 as the base coat, then served as the canvas for a decorative mural of three colourful giraffes painted by a local artist. The lime paint was chosen for its breathability, low VOC, and child-safe profile.

Lime paint cured for 72 hours before the mural artist began work — the alkaline surface needed full carbonation before acrylic mural pigments could bond without flashing. Three-coat lime base; the artist worked in acrylics over the cured matte ground.

Conditions on Site

Surface
Interior plastered mineral substrate — children's space wall, base for over-painted mural
Climate & Exposure
Coastal Visakhapatnam indoor — climate-controlled, coastal humidity, salt-air loading
Limitations
  • Lime base must fully carbonate before over-painting — 72 hours minimum before acrylic
  • Child-safe profile required — low-VOC mural pigments specified over the lime base

Gallery

More from the site.

  • Detail of one giraffe figure — acrylic mural pigments bonded cleanly to the cured lime base, no flashing at the brush strokes.
  • Wide nursery view showing the mural as a focal feature against the matte lime-paint white surround.
  • Close-up of a mural-to-blank-wall edge — colour ends sharp without bleed onto the lime base.
  • Side angle showing the matte mineral finish of the lime base outside the mural area.
  • Mural detail at child eye-level — brush strokes legible without surface gloss flattening the artwork.
  • Wall corner with the mural — clean transition between the painted area and bare lime base behind.

Outcome

The result on site.

White lime-painted wall in a Visakhapatnam children's space — LEINOS Anti-Mould Lime Paint 665 provides a breathable, child-safe base that allowed acrylic mural pigments to bond without flashing after a 72-hour cure.

The lime paint base provides a clean, bright white matte surface that allows the vivid mural colours to stand out without competing for attention. Eighteen months in, no flashing visible between the mural strokes and the lime substrate; the wall remains breathable behind the mural where the acrylic skips.

Results vary by surface condition, climate exposure, application method, and ongoing maintenance.
