- Marketing claims are self-declared. EN 71-3 is an independent lab method that measures migration of nineteen specified elements from a cured surface into an artificial gastric-acid solution, against fixed limits. A test report has a sample ID, a lab signature, and pass/fail thresholds. Where a LEINOS product is tested under it, the TDS states it — and the TDS is downloadable from the product page.
- For a toy, yes — 290 carries EN 71-3 and DIN 53160 (saliva resistance), and the limits apply to the fully cured finish, so allow the full cure (approx. 7–14 days per TDS) before the piece goes back to the child. For a spoon or anything intended for direct chewing or food preparation, use the 280 countertop oil instead — it is the one WESSLING-tested for food contact under Regulation (EC) 1935/2004 and the German LFGB food law.
- No coating can promise zero reaction for every individual — but 665 removes the usual suspects: no biocides, no preservatives, no solvent, VOC below 1 g/l per TDS. The binder is slaked lime (calcium hydroxide), which is mineral; colour comes from natural earth or mineral-oxide pigments. Initial application has a faint mineral smell that fades as the paint dries and carbonates. For a sensitised household, read the SDS before specifying — it is supplied on request.
