Wide larch floorboards in a Bengaluru log-cabin bedroom — stained dark brown with LEINOS Pigment 668, sealed with Hardwax Oil 290. Unfinished pine walls in contrast.

Context

The brief, and the surface.

Wide-plank larch floorboards in a log-cabin-style bedroom, with the walls also clad in unfinished pine. To get a dark brown floor that contrasted strongly with the lighter walls, the team brushed LEINOS Pigment Concentrate 668 in dark brown, then sealed with two coats of Interior Hardwax Oil 290.

Larch absorbs pigment unevenly along the grain — the team brushed with the grain in long strokes, then wiped back excess pigment with a lint-free cloth before it skinned. Hardwax Oil 290 followed 24 hours after pigment cure, then a second coat at 16 hours.

Conditions on Site

Surface
Wide-plank larch floorboards — uneven grain absorption, unfinished pine walls in contrast
Climate & Exposure
South Indian plateau indoor — climate-controlled, seasonal humidity
Limitations
  • Pigment grain absorption uneven on larch — wipe-back required before skinning
  • Bedroom foot traffic moderate — recoat at 24-30 months on the oil layer only

Gallery

More from the site.

  • Floor surface close-up — striking grain contrast under the dark brown stain, lightly glossy sheen.
  • Wall-to-floor junction — clean tonal break between dark larch floor and light unfinished pine wall.

Outcome

The result on site.

Wide larch floorboards in a Bengaluru log-cabin bedroom — LEINOS Pigment 668 + Hardwax Oil 290 deliver a deep warm brown with striking grain contrast against the unfinished pine walls.

Floor reads a deep warm brown with striking grain contrast against the unfinished pine walls. Surface settles to a smooth, lightly glossy sheen after the first month. No darkening at the wall-to-floor junction; the colour holds an even register across the bedroom.

Results vary by surface condition, climate exposure, application method, and ongoing maintenance.
