Context

The brief, and the surface.

A compact mid-century-style hallway bench with two front drawers and angled black tapered legs, set in a Goa residence. The wood surface needed an oil that would deepen the tone toward warm amber while remaining wipe-clean under daily hallway traffic (shoes, bags, hands). LEINOS Interior Hardwax Oil 290 was brushed onto the wood in two thin coats; the fabric seat cushion was installed after final cure.

Drawer fronts and the top surface got oiled separately from the legs to avoid drips during assembly. The team kept the angled black tapered legs in their lacquered black factory finish — the contrast between the oiled wood and matte-black legs was the design intent. Final assembly after 24-hour cure.

Outcome

The result on site.

Mid-century hallway bench in Goa with solid wood top and drawers — LEINOS Interior Hardwax Oil 290 delivers warm golden-amber finish with wipe-clean drawer fronts under daily hallway traffic.

The wood displays a warm golden-amber colour with prominently visible grain patterns and knots. Drawer fronts wipe clean of marks; the top surface holds keys and small items without scratching through the oil layer. Contrast against the black tapered legs reads strong under hallway lamp lighting.

Results vary by surface condition, climate exposure, application method, and ongoing maintenance.
