Vertical wooden slat feature wall in a Hyderabad apartment entryway — finished with LEINOS Interior Hardwax Oil 290 in warm honey-oak tone against neutral plaster walls.

Context

The brief, and the surface.

A vertical wooden slat panel installed as a decorative feature wall in a modern apartment entryway, set against painted plaster walls in a neutral tone. The slats needed an oil that would deepen the wood toward warm honey-oak without filming over the slat profile. LEINOS Interior Hardwax Oil 290 was brushed onto the bare slats in two thin coats.

Each slat needed individual brush passes — the team used a 25mm brush to follow the slat face top-to-bottom, then a cloth wrapped around a thin blade to wipe down each inter-slat channel before the oil could pool. Drying intervals 16 hours between coats.

Conditions on Site

Surface
Interior vertical wooden slat feature wall, painted plaster walls adjacent
Climate & Exposure
Telangana inland indoor — climate-controlled, seasonal humidity
Limitations
  • Inter-slat channels — wipe-down required before pooling occurs
  • Feature wall low-traffic — recoat cycle 30+ months on the slat faces

Gallery

More from the site.

  • Close-up of slat face and inter-slat channel — clean oil coverage with no pooling at the channel bottoms.
  • Wide entryway view — slat feature wall set against painted plaster, light catching the slat ridges.
  • Slat ridge detail under direct light — soft satin sheen reading along the ridge line.
  • Slat-to-plaster junction — clean tonal break between wood feature wall and neutral plaster surround.
  • Floor-to-slat-base transition showing the panel's lower edge — clean termination without oil migration onto the floor.

Outcome

The result on site.

Vertical wooden slat feature wall in a Hyderabad apartment entryway — LEINOS Interior Hardwax Oil 290 delivers a warm honey-oak tone across all slat faces with no oil pooling in the inter-slat channels.

The slats carry a warm honey-oak tone with a gentle satin sheen that picks up light along the slat ridges. Contrast against the neutral plaster walls reads strong without competing — the slat profile is the visible feature, the oil is the medium.

Results vary by surface condition, climate exposure, application method, and ongoing maintenance.
