Outdoor terrace decking in Visakhapatnam — sealed with LEINOS Terrace Wood Oil 236. Open-pore, water-repellent finish that beads rain off anti-slip grooves.

Grooved outdoor terrace deck in Visakhapatnam after monsoon rain — water beading visible on the board faces, sealed with LEINOS Terrace Wood Oil 236.

Context

The brief, and the surface.

An elevated outdoor terrace with grooved anti-slip decking boards, exposed to Andhra Pradesh's coastal monsoon and year-round UV. The team needed a penetrating oil that would seal the deck against rain without filling the anti-slip channels. LEINOS Terrace Wood Oil 236 was brushed onto the boards in two thin coats, applied wet-on-wet per TDS protocol.

The team worked plank by plank, keeping the brush moving across the grooves so the oil reached the channel bottoms without pooling on the flat faces. Drying ran 6-8 hours dust-dry; the second coat followed at 16 hours next morning.

Conditions on Site

Surface
Exterior grooved anti-slip wood decking, absorbent untreated timber
Climate & Exposure
Tropical coastal — monsoon-cyclical, high humidity, salt-air exposure
Limitations
  • Anti-slip grooves must remain unfilled — no film-forming coatings
  • Recoat cycle 12-18 months per TDS for direct-rain exposure

Gallery

More from the site.

  • Close-up of anti-slip deck grooves with active water beading — open-pore oil finish keeping the grooves unfilled.
  • Wide view of the terrace decking surface — uniform dark brown tone across all boards after a single LEINOS Wood Oil 236 application.

Outcome

The result on site.

Water beads visibly on the deck face and runs off the anti-slip grooves after a Visakhapatnam coastal monsoon — a single LEINOS Terrace Wood Oil 236 system, no film coating.

The decking carries a deep saturated brown tone with the wood grain visible through the oil. After a coastal monsoon shower, water beads prominently on the board faces and runs cleanly off the anti-slip grooves; no chalking at the board ends after the first season.

Results vary by surface condition, climate exposure, application method, and ongoing maintenance.
