Rooftop Pine Terrace Pavilion in Delhi
An open rooftop terrace pavilion in Delhi, framed in raw pine — lattice jali screens, deck boards and a slatted ceiling — finished in a single coat of LEINOS Terrace Wood Oil 236 in Oak ahead of the monsoon. Greying, untreated wood brought to a warm, water-resistant Oak tone.
The Brief
The brief, and the surface.
- Surface
- Exterior pine terrace structure — lattice jali screens, deck boards, slatted ceiling
- Climate & Exposure
- Open rooftop terrace in Delhi — pre-monsoon, direct UV and seasonal rain exposure
- On-site Notes
- Lattice jali weave: oil brushed through the open diagonal pattern without film build-up in the gaps
- Single-coat application; open-pore oil recoats without sanding when the surface later dulls

An open-air terrace pavilion in Delhi, framed entirely in pine — lattice jali screens, deck boards underfoot and a slatted overhead ceiling — at roof level under full sun and the approaching monsoon. The pine was raw and beginning to grey. A LEINOS India contractor finished it in a single coat of Terrace Wood Oil 236 in the Oak tone, an open-pore oil chosen so the lattice and slatted timber could be coated without a film that would peel on a weather-exposed terrace.
The lattice jali screens are the awkward part of a job like this — an open diagonal weave with hundreds of edges. An open-pore oil suits it: brushed into the weave it coats every face without pooling in the gaps the way a film-former would. Here a single coat was enough to even out the raw pine, and the oil can be refreshed later without sanding when the surface dulls.

Outcome
The result on site.
A single coat of LEINOS Terrace Wood Oil 236 (Oak) took the pavilion's raw, greying pine to a warm, water-resistant Oak finish — recoatable without sanding.
The raw, greying pine took on a warm, even Oak tone across screens, deck and ceiling in a single coat. As an open-pore terrace oil, 236 leaves the wood breathable and water-resistant rather than sealed under a film, and can be refreshed without sanding when the surface dulls.
Results vary by surface condition, climate exposure, application method, and ongoing maintenance.
