Context

The brief, and the surface.

A residential staircase with solid oak treads set against decorative ceramic tile risers in patterned geometric motifs. The treads needed an oil that would handle daily foot traffic while preserving the oak's natural tone, set against the visually busy tile risers below. LEINOS Universal Hard Oil 259 was applied in two thin coats.

The team masked each tile riser with painter's tape before applying the oil to the tread above — tape stayed in place through the 16-hour cure to keep oil off the glazed ceramic. Cleanup of any drip was done immediately with a cloth and white spirit before the oil could skin.
