COARSE SILICATE FACADE ADHESION BASE · ART. 615
LEINOS 615 UniverSil Facade Paint Coarse — a ready-to-use, fibre-reinforced silicate adhesion base. Its water-glass binder grips mineral render and sound synthetic facades alike, while a 0.4 mm structural quartz slurries hairline cracks into a breathing base for the finish. Thinned with 611 Profi-Fixativ, overcoated with 614. Made in Germany by Reincke Naturfarben.
Mechanism & Use
A pure water-glass binder and adhesion-promoting additives bond the coat to mineral and synthetic facades alike; a fibre-reinforced coarse quartz gives it body to level minor differences and slurry hairline cracks, and the wall keeps breathing. A mineral adhesion base, not a plastic filler.
The ready-to-use pure mineral water-glass binder, with adhesion-promoting organic additives, bonds this coarse coat to both mineral render and sound synthetic-resin-bound facades — firmly-adhering old dispersion and emulsion coatings, synthetic-resin renders, and WDVS/ETICS insulation. It is engineered as a silicate adhesion coating (Haftbeschichtung): the base that lets a mineral UniverSil system take hold on a facade a pure silicate could not otherwise grip.
A graded 0.4 mm structural quartz and fibre reinforcement give the coat body: it evens minor structural differences full-surface and slurries (zuschlämmt) individual hairline cracks, so the UniverSil fine finish lands on a uniform, sound plane instead of tracing every craze line beneath it.
The mineral coat lets water vapour and CO₂ pass freely, so moisture is never trapped between substrate and finish. Through monsoon wet-and-dry cycles the renovated build-up releases moisture instead of blistering and peeling the way a sealed synthetic base coat can.
It dries to a genuine mineral coating layer, not a plastic film — non-flammable, and alkaline at pH ≈ 11, with an added film protection that together deny mould and algae a foothold. Like every silicate coating it ages by an extremely slow reduction in layer thickness the trade calls chalking (Kreiden) — a material-typical property, not a defect.
Where It Lives
Renovation over old synthetic/emulsion facades
The coarse adhesion base over a sound, firmly-adhering old dispersion, emulsion, or synthetic-resin coating — re-establishing a mineral, breathable, structured surface for the UniverSil Fine 614 colour finish to land on.
Synthetic-resin renders (Kunstharzputze)
A mineral adhesion-and-structure bridge over synthetic-resin render, where a pure mineral character and breathability are wanted but the substrate is not itself mineral.
WDVS/ETICS insulated facades
A coarse, vapour-open mineral base over thermal-insulation composite systems — grips the render coat and evens minor structural differences, keeping the system breathable. Light shades only (HBW > 40) so the insulation does not overheat.
Mineral-render facades
A coarse base on ordinary lime/cement and mineral render over a 610-levelled wall, laying a structured mineral plane that slurries hairline cracks before the fine finish.
Heritage and conservation elevations
Historic plastered facades where a mineral, breathable base coat matters. The coarse silicate adhesion base keeps the old fabric breathing while it structures the surface for a mineral finish.
High-exposure weather elevations
Wind- and rain-driven facades where the durability of the build-up depends on the foundation. A well-bonded, vapour-open coarse base under UniverSil Fine 614 carries the mineral system’s longevity from the base up.

Prepare the substrate. All surfaces are prepared per VOB Part C DIN 18363 and the BFS data sheets — clean, firm, dry, and load-bearing. An old synthetic or emulsion coating must be sound and firmly adhering; remove any flaking, glossy, or plasto-elastic coating first. Level deeper cracks and repairs with LEINOS 610 ProfiGrund. Assess doubtful substrates individually and lay a sample area.

Stir thoroughly and sieve. Silicate paint settles and skins in the pail — stir the LEINOS 615 bucket well and sieve the material to remove any dried particles from the rim or lid before use. This material-typical step gives an even, blemish-free coarse coat.

Thin with Profi-Fixativ. Adjust the coat with LEINOS 611 Profi-Fixativ — not water — to suit the substrate and your working method (brush, roller, or airless). The clear water-glass fixativ regulates absorbency and workability without weakening the mineral bond.

Apply the coarse coat full-surface. Work the coat evenly across the whole wall — brush is recommended, roller or airless also work — building the coarse, structured mineral adhesion base. Slurry every hairline crack carefully and smooth the transitions so the surface reads as one uniform plane. Do not apply below +8°C, in direct sun, or on a heated substrate.

Let it dry, protected. Allow at least 12 hours before overcoating; protect the fresh coat from rain, direct sun, and heat while it sets. Silicate base coats need this window to firm up into a sound mineral plane.

Overcoat with the fine finish. UniverSil Coarse is an adhesion base, never a finish — overcoat it with LEINOS UniverSil Facade Paint Fine 614, applied in at least two thin water-thinned coats, which sets the visible facade colour and the weathering surface. Clean tools, substrate, and clothing immediately with water.

System & Substrates
610 ProfiGrund levels deeper cracks; UniverSil Coarse grips and structures the wall, thinned with 611 Profi-Fixativ; UniverSil Fine 614 finishes it in colour. A mineral, vapour-open build-up that mineralises a synthetic facade — the coarse coat is a base, never a finish.

Full Declaration
Every ingredient declared on the label. The Trust Hub explains what each one does and the standards behind it.
Pure Mineral Water Glass
Potassium water-glass — the pure silicate binder, with no silica-sol addition. With adhesion-promoting additives it bonds a mineral coating layer onto both mineral render and sound synthetic-resin coatings and WDVS, becoming a mineral layer of the wall rather than a plastic film. Solvent-lean, water-borne.
Fibre reinforcement + structural quartz (0.4 mm)
Fibres bridge hairline cracks while a graded 0.4 mm structural quartz gives the coat its body and coarse structure — enough to even minor structural differences and slurry individual hairline cracks in one full-surface adhesion coat.
Alkali-resistant, lightfast mineral pigments
Mineral pigments (including titanium-dioxide white) chosen to survive the alkaline binder — the base is tinted to Natural white, Old white, and 200-plus alkali-fast pastel shades, usually close to the 614 finish colour.
Organic additives
A small organic additive fraction for workability and for adhesion to synthetic-resin substrates, without compromising the mineral, vapour-open character of the coat.
Film protection
An added film-protection biocide (isothiazolinone film preservative) that, together with the alkaline pH ≈ 11, helps keep mould and algae off the renovated build-up. The safety data sheet is supplied on request.
