EXTERIOR WOOD PAINT · ART. 850
LEINOS 850 is an oil-based, silk-gloss paint for exterior timber: cladding, fences, sheds, gates and rough-sawn boards. The film stays elastic and lets water vapour out of the wood. Prime with 150, then two coats, in nine colours. Made in Germany.
Colour Range
Nine opaque, silk-gloss colours for exterior timber, from Antique White to Vine Black. All nine can be mixed with one another.

These are opaque cover colours: the paint hides the wood, so the finished tone reads solid. The dried colour differs from the fresh paint in the tin, and batches can vary, so mix tins of the same colour together and brush a test board before the full job. Screen chips approximate the real paint.
Mixing the Nine
All nine colours mix with one another, so a shade can be adjusted on site. Mix in the tin, brush a test board and let it dry before you commit: the dried colour is the one that counts.
Mechanism & Use
Paint on exterior timber fails when it cannot move or cannot let damp out. 850 is built to do both, and to hold its colour in sun and rain.
Linseed oil, wood oil and castor oil with natural resin esters form the binder. It dries by taking up oxygen from the air, so the coat needs air around it while it cures, and it goes on sparingly to dry through properly.
The cured film is elastic and open-pored. It follows the timber as it swells and shrinks, and it lets water vapour move back out of the wood instead of holding it behind a sealed film. It is weather- and UV-resistant.
Iodopropynyl butyl carbamate, below 0.6 %, protects the paint film against fungal attack. It is declared on the label, and it is why 850 is an exterior paint, not a finish for toys or furniture.
Kaolin, chalk, silica and mineral pigments give the paint its hiding power. It is made for rough-sawn boards as well as planed ones, and the dried film is saliva- and sweat-resistant to DIN 53160.
Where It Lives
Timber cladding and board facades
Board-and-batten or shiplap walls on homes, cottages and resorts.
Fences and palisades
Boundary boards and pickets, rough-sawn or planed.
Garden sheds and store rooms
Small timber buildings that stand in sun and rain all year.
Gates and carports
Timber gates, posts and carport frames, in one of nine colours.
Rough-sawn outbuildings
Barns, staff quarters and farm buildings clad in unplaned boards.
Pergolas and garden structures
Posts, beams and screens: the vertical and overhead timber, not seating or decking.
Compliance · Protection · Origin
What 850 is tested and declared for, and what it contains to protect the film.
Resistance
The dried film is saliva- and sweat-resistant. Not a toy-safe claim: 850 contains a film biocide.
Protection
Iodopropynyl butyl carbamate below 0.6 % guards the paint film against fungal attack.
Ingredient disclosure
All fourteen ingredients are published, the film biocide included.
850 contains iodopropynyl butyl carbamate as film protection, which may cause allergic reactions, and it is harmful to aquatic life, so keep it out of drains. It is an exterior paint, not a finish for toys, furniture or food surfaces. Rags soaked with it can self-ignite: keep them in a closed metal tin or under water. Prepare the wood. It must be dry, sound, clean and free of grease and dust. Brush down untreated, rough-sawn timber with a stiff brush. Scrape out resin pockets and clean them with LEINOS Thinner 200.

Prime untreated, rough-sawn timber with Impregnation Wood Primer 150 and let it dry fully.

Stir the paint thoroughly before use. It is ready to use, no thinning needed. Mix tins of the same colour together if you have more than one batch.

Apply the first coat sparingly by brush, roller or airless spray, with air and surface above 15 °C. About 55–85 ml per m² (127–196 sq ft per litre) on planed wood, a little more on rough-sawn. Thick coats dry badly.

Apply the second coat after about 24 hours (dust-dry after about 12). Two coats are required. The paint dries with oxygen from the air, so do not paint in still, damp corners.

Clean brushes and tools with Thinner 200. Keep rags soaked with wet paint airtight in a metal tin or under water before disposal: they can self-ignite.

Full Declaration
Every ingredient declared on the label. The Trust Hub explains what each one does and the standards behind it.
Linseed, wood and castor oil
Three plant oils form the binder. Linseed and wood oil dry in air into the paint film; castor oil keeps it supple.
Natural resin esters and micro-wax
Resin esters from natural resin give the film its body and silk-gloss; micro-wax adds water repellence.
Minerals and pigments
Kaolin, chalk, silica, alumina, mineral pigments and zinc oxide give the paint its colour and hiding power.
Isoparaffins, driers and film protection
Isoparaffins carry the paint and evaporate as it dries. Drying agents speed up the cure. Iodopropynyl butyl carbamate, below 0.6 %, protects the film against fungal attack.
