Wall finish & Use

How 650 Interior White Paint works.

The everyday interior wall paint for residential and commercial apartments. Brush, roller, or airless. Two coats over a sound substrate. Walls breathe through the cured film and accept routine cleaning without chalking off.

01

High-opacity matt interior white

Mineral fillers (calcium carbonate, titanium dioxide, silicate body) carry the opacity and matt depth. Two coats over a sound substrate bring the wall to uniform hiding power. Soft matt natural-white that does not glare under interior lighting.

02

Vapour-permeable — Class 1 (DIN EN ISO 7783-2)

Highest EU classification. The cured film stays open-pore — water vapour passes freely in both directions. Conventional acrylic emulsion traps moisture between polymer film and plaster: the failure mode behind monsoon-cycle blistering.

03

Washable wet-scrub — Class 3 (DIN EN ISO 11998)

TDS explicit. Damp cloth or mild detergent handles kitchen splashback, hallway scuffs, child-room marks. Breathability is not given up for washability — both simultaneous, which acrylic emulsion cannot do.

04

Natural-resin emulsion binder, not acrylic

Plant-derived natural-resin emulsion (rosin-ester family) replaces synthetic acrylic polymer as the film-forming binder. Same chemistry as sister SKU 660 — specify 660 where the architect’s packet calls out the binder explicitly.

Where It Lives

Where 650 Lives

Everyday Indian apartment interiors — Delhi, Pune, Bangalore, Mumbai

The default interior wall paint specification for residential apartment fit-outs across the Indian metro stack — mineral plaster in older blocks, gypsum board partition walls in newer fit-outs, bonded ingrain wallpaper where the feature wall calls for it. Two coats of 650 over 620 Deep Sealer (where the substrate is chalking or highly absorbent) reads as a soft matt natural-white interior wall.

Bedrooms, nurseries, and living rooms

Solvent-free with very low VOC (<1 g/l, EU Cat. a). The cured wall releases no acrylic-polymer off-gassing window comparable to conventional emulsion paint. The room is ready for sleeping in once the second coat is dry to touch — typically 6 to 12 hours at 20 °C and 50% RH. Standard contractor practice — paint Thursday, occupy Friday — applies.

Kitchens, hallways, and high-traffic interior walls

Wet-scrub washable Class 3 (DIN EN ISO 11998). Splashback zones around the stove, hallway scuff zones near door frames, child-room walls with crayon and hand-print exposure — all within standard interior wall-paint maintenance frequency (damp-cloth wipe, mild detergent for marks). The natural-resin binder washes the same way contractors expect a high-quality emulsion to wash.

Commercial fit-outs — offices, co-working interiors, retail stores, hospitality

Matt finish with uniform hiding power. The non-glare matt reads cleanly under office grid lighting and retail track lighting; the high-traffic durability and washable scrub class handle the daily-use load of shared interiors. Repaint cycle aligned with conventional commercial wall paint frequency.

Restored shell apartments and mixed-substrate fit-outs

Original lime plaster patches alongside modern gypsum-board partition repairs, bonded ingrain wallpaper feature walls — the substrate mix common in Indian apartment renovations. 620 Deep Sealer first evens the absorbency canvas; 650 then goes on as a unified contemporary matt natural-finish white wall across the substrate mix.

Property-developer-grade specifications — multi-unit apartment projects

The 10 L pack covers approximately 710 sq ft per coat (per TDS). For multi-unit fit-outs where the spec line item reads “interior white wall paint, washable, breathable”, 650 is the canonical LEINOS line. For projects where the developer brief calls out the binder chemistry explicitly (natural-resin paint), specify 660 instead.

Step by Step

How to Apply

  1. Substrate inspection — wall must be dry, sound, clean, dust-free, grease-free, firmly adhering. Strip all distemper; remove flaking paint. Sand glossy or lacquered coats to dull. Strongly alkaline fresh substrates (fresh lime plaster, freshly skimmed walls in the first 2-3 weeks) must be neutralised before painting.

  2. Prime where required with LEINOS 620 Deep Sealer — required on plasterboard, bonded ingrain wallpaper, and highly absorbent or chalking substrates per leinos.de. For sound cured mineral plaster or stable existing matt emulsion, 620 is optional. On mixed-substrate apartment shells, 620 first evens the absorbency canvas so 650 goes on at uniform thickness.

Indian craftsman brushing transparent water-based deep sealer onto a patch of plasterboard wall with a flat painter’s brush
  3. Stir well before use. Open the pail and stir the natural-resin emulsion thoroughly until the mineral fillers are fully dispersed and the colour reads uniform. Supplied ready-to-use; dilute with water on the first coat only if substrate absorbency makes the brushwork drag.

Indian craftsman stirring a creamy-white natural-resin emulsion paint pail with a wooden stirring stick and pouring into an open painter tray
  4. First coat — apply evenly by brush, medium-pile microfibre roller, or airless spray (nozzle 0.38-0.43 mm, spray angle 30°-40°, filter 100-50 mesh per leinos.de). Regular overlapping strokes; on roller, finish with light vertical strokes to even the stipple. Ambient and surface temperature above 10 °C (TDS minimum).

  5. Second coat after 16-24 hours at 20 °C / 50% RH (longer under cooler or more humid conditions). One to two coats are typical per TDS; the second coat brings the wall to full uniform matt opacity. Recoat only after the previous coat has dried sufficiently.

Indian craftsman applying the second coat of natural-resin emulsion paint over the dried first coat with a microfibre roller — deeper matt opacity visible
  6. Finished surface + first wash cycle. The paint reaches full matt finish and uniform hiding power once the second coat is dry. Wet-scrub washable performance (Class 3, DIN EN ISO 11998) develops over the following week. After the first week, the wall accepts damp cloth + mild detergent for marks — no abrasive scrub pads.

Substrate Fit

650 works on — and what it doesn’t.

Suitable

Recommended substrates

  • Lime plaster (modern + restored shell apartments, cured 2–3 weeks)
  • Cement plaster + cement render (residential, commercial, after 2–3 week cure)
  • Gypsum board / drywall (over 620 Deep Sealer per leinos.de)
  • Bonded ingrain wallpaper (Raufaser, firmly adhered, over 620 Deep Sealer)
  • Absorbent firmly-adhering existing interior coatings (sound, non-chalking matt finish)

Honest Limits

Where to use a different product

  • Exterior surfaces — use LEINOS exterior facade paints.
  • Permanently wet or submerged areas — bathroom shower stalls, basement walls below waterline. Use a dedicated wet-room coating.
  • Vinyl or plastic-coated wallpaper — strip or replace before painting.
  • Non-absorbent, glossy, or lacquered surfaces — strip back to the substrate, or mechanically key (sand) and prime with LEINOS 620 Deep Sealer
  • Strongly alkaline fresh substrates — neutralise first before applying 650.
  • Active-mould-risk humid bathrooms and kitchens — the alkaline lime chemistry suppresses mould growth on the surface, where 650 natural-resin film does not. Use LEINOS 665 Lime Paint

Use With Care

Working safely with 650

  • Store away from children. Keep the pail closed and out of reach when not actively in use.
  • Avoid contact with eyes, skin, and clothing. Contains isothiazolinone preservatives (TDS-disclosed); sealed wet-handling hygiene applies. Wash any splashes with plenty of water and soap immediately. Use standard painter’s gloves and eyewear during application.
  • Ensure adequate ventilation during application and the first 24 hours of drying — open windows and run room fans on low if the room has no cross-ventilation.
  • Avoid release to the environment. Do not pour wet-paint residues to drains, soil, or watercourses.
  • Dispose of dried product residues with household waste; dispose of liquid residues per local hazardous-waste regulations. Disposal code: EAK/EWC 08 01 12.
  • Safety Data Sheet (SDS) is available on request from LEINOS India for the full hazard register and regulated label statements.

Composition

Every ingredient declared on the label. The Trust Hub explains what each one does and the standards behind it.

  • Natural-Resin Emulsion Binder

Plant-derived natural resin (rosin-ester family per master TDS pattern), emulsified in water — the film-forming binder. Replaces synthetic acrylic polymer in conventional emulsion paint.

  • Mineral Fillers + Pigments

Calcium carbonate, titanium dioxide (white pigment), and additional mineral fillers — provide opacity, matt depth, and the wall’s interlock with absorbent substrate pores. Inert, REACH-compliant.

  • Plant-Derived Stabilisers

Cellulose-based or similar plant-derived rheology modifiers — keep the natural-resin emulsion and mineral fillers in uniform suspension in the pail. Burn out as the paint cures.

  • Mild Preservatives (Isothiazolinones)

Trace-level in-can preservatives that keep the wet pail stable through shelf life and prevent microbial spoilage of the emulsion. TDS discloses isothiazolinone preservatives by name. Standard interior emulsion paint chemistry; sealed wet-handling hygiene applies.

Got Questions?

Frequently Asked

Quick answers on formulation, application and Indian-climate suitability. Pulled from our full FAQ and TDS library.

It depends on the condition. Sound, non-chalking, well-bonded dispersion coatings can usually be primed with LEINOS Mineral Plaster Primer 622 first — the primer creates a uniform mineral base for the topcoat. Flaking, chalking, or oil-based finishes must be fully removed back to a sound mineral substrate.
