Decorative finish & Technique

How 632 Effect Spatula works.

A semi-transparent spatula glaze, not an opaque paint. Two to three thin passes with a Japanese spatula, polished to silk gloss after a day. The shimmer sits in mineral pigment layers that stay vapour-open.

01

Semi-transparent metallic depth

Once dry, 632 is a nearly colourless transparent glaze body carrying metallic mineral pigment. Two to three thin spatula passes — same shade or deliberately different shades — build the layered optical depth that single-coat opaque effect paints cannot reach.

02

Shellac + natural-resin soap binder, not acrylic

The binder is saponified shellac and natural-resin soap — water-based, plant- and lac-derived, non-yellowing. The same LEINOS chemistry family as 620 Deep Sealer, here building a polishable surface film instead of an in-pore primer.

03

Wax body that polishes to silk gloss

Carnauba and beeswax in the compound take a sheepskin-pad polish after roughly 24 hours — from soft matt shimmer to silk gloss. Optional 350 Wall Wax Finish deepens transparency and colour depth further, per the LEINOS technical sheet.

04

Breathable decorative finish

The cured film stays vapour-permeable — the feature wall keeps exchanging moisture with the room instead of sealing it behind a synthetic effect coating. Decorative register without giving up the open-pore wall physics of the LEINOS mineral line.

Where It Lives

Where 632 Lives

Designer feature walls — Mumbai, Bangalore, Delhi living rooms

The single statement wall in a premium apartment fit-out: layered metallic-silver or 668-tinted shimmer behind the sofa line or the dining console. Semi-transparent passes catch evening lamplight and daylight differently — the wall changes register through the day.

Boutique hotels and hospitality

Reception backdrops, lounge walls, corridor end-walls in boutique stays — Goa, Jaipur, Coorg. The silk-gloss polished finish reads as crafted plasterwork, not wallpaper. Breathable build suits older masonry shells common in heritage-conversion properties.

Retail and brand interiors

Jewellery, fashion, and premium retail fit-outs where the wall is part of the merchandising light plan. Metallic shimmer holds track lighting without the hot specular glare of synthetic metallic paints. Tintable to brand shades with 668 Pigment Concentrate.

Bedroom and dressing-room accent walls

Soft shimmer at low evening light — the quietest register of the product. A single accent wall in a pastel 668 tint (half white concentrate + colour concentrate, per the LEINOS pastel recipe) over a 660-coated ground.

Entry foyers and lift lobbies of premium residences

First-impression surfaces with high visual value and low touch traffic. The polished wax surface takes ambient light from door glazing and lobby fixtures; 350 Wall Wax Finish adds protection where hands occasionally brush the wall.

Multi-tone layered compositions

The technique register: 2–3 passes in different shades — TDS-explicit — for designer-specified two-tone and tone-on-tone effects. Each pass dries 2–3 hours before the next; the composition is polished as one surface after 24 hours.

Step by Step

How to Apply

  1. Check the substrate — chemically neutral, solid, dry, clean, grease- and dust-free, with no bleeding substances. LEINOS recommends trying the technique on a coated sample board first to judge shade and spatula pattern before committing the wall (TDS tip).

  2. Prepare the ground. Per leinos.de: level with LEINOS 684 Smoothing & Texturing Filler, then prime with 620 Deep Sealer diluted 1:1 with water — or alternatively apply an opaque coat of 660 Natural Resin Emulsion Paint for a finely textured ground. Room and surface temperature above 15 °C.

  3. Tint the compound — stir in approximately 10% LEINOS 668 Pigment Concentrate for the target shade; for pastels use half white concentrate plus a colour concentrate (TDS recipe). Pearlescent concentrates 340 Sterling-Silver and 345 Gold-Satin are not suitable for 632.

Pouring LEINOS 668 Pigment Concentrate into an open pail of LEINOS 632 Effect Spatula and stirring the tinted compound
  4. Spatula passes — apply the tinted compound thinly with a Japanese spatula in the chosen technique. Minimum 2, preferably 3 passes, in the same or different shades; each pass must dry before the next (recoatable after 2–3 hours).

  5. Polish — after approximately 24 hours, polish the finished wall with a sheepskin pad to a silk gloss. Work in even circular passes; the metallic pigment layers tighten into a continuous sheen.

  6. Optional wax finish — apply LEINOS 350 Wall Wax Finish for additional surface protection; waxing significantly increases the transparency and colour depth of the finish (TDS verbatim). Clean tools immediately after use with water and LEINOS 930 Plant Soap.

System & Substrates

A three-layer decorative system: ground, shimmer, optional wax.

Ground first — 684 filler + 620 diluted 1:1 with water, or an opaque coat of 660. Then 632: tint with 668, two to three thin passes, polish after 24 hours. Add 350 where the wall needs extra protection.

The Decorative System

Ground, shimmer, optional wax.

Substrate Fit

632 works on — and what it doesn’t.

Suitable

Recommended substrates

  • Chemically neutral, solid, dry, clean interior walls — grease- and dust-free, no bleeding substances (TDS conditions)
  • Levelled mineral plaster and skim-coated walls — over 684 Smoothing & Texturing Filler + 620 Deep Sealer (diluted 1:1)
  • Gypsum board / drywall — after the same 684 + 620 ground route
  • Sound existing matt emulsion — over an opaque coat of 660 Natural Resin Emulsion Paint as the finely textured ground

Honest Limits

Where to use a different product

  • Exterior surfaces — 632 is specified for interior living areas only per TDS.
  • Wet zones and walls with active mould risk — the shellac-soap wax film has no alkaline chemistry. Use LEINOS 665 Lime Paint
  • Strongly alkaline or chemically active fresh substrates, and substrates with bleeding ingredients — neutralise and seal first.
  • Unprepared glossy, unstable, or chalking surfaces — strip or mechanically key, then ground per the system route with LEINOS 620 Deep Sealer

Use With Care

Working safely with 632

  • Store away from children. Keep the pail closed and out of reach when not actively in use.
  • Contains 1,2-benzisothiazol-3(2H)-one — may cause allergic reactions in sensitised individuals (TDS-disclosed). Avoid contact with eyes and skin; wash splashes with water and soap. Standard painter’s gloves recommended during spatula work and polishing.
  • Do not inhale aerosol or mist. Ensure normal room ventilation during application and drying.
  • Avoid release to the environment. Do not pour wet residues to drains, soil, or watercourses.
  • Dispose of dried residues with household waste; liquid residues per local hazardous-waste regulations. Disposal code: EAK/EWC 08 01 12.
  • Safety Data Sheet (SDS) is available on request from LEINOS India for the full hazard register and regulated label statements.

Coverage & Pack Sizes

Effect Spatula packs: 0.75 L for the accent zone, 2.5 L for the feature wall.

Full Declaration

Composition

Every ingredient declared on the label. The Trust Hub explains what each one does and the standards behind it.

  • Shellac + Natural-Resin Soaps (Binder)

Saponified shellac and natural-resin soap — the water-based, non-yellowing film-forming binder pair. The same LEINOS chemistry family as 620 Deep Sealer; in 632 it builds a polishable decorative surface film. Methylcellulose holds the compound in working suspension.

  • Carnauba Wax + Beeswax

The polishable body — after approx. 24 hours the wax phase takes a sheepskin-pad polish to silk gloss. The same wax chemistry that 350 Wall Wax Finish extends for deeper transparency and colour depth.

  • Mineral Body + Metallic Pigments

Talc, calcium carbonate, and clay form the spatula body; metallic mineral pigments carry the shimmer (Metallic-Silver standard). Tintable on site with approx. 10% 668 Pigment Concentrate. Inert, REACH-compliant minerals.

  • Preservative (Benzisothiazolinone)

Trace in-can preservative keeping the wet pail stable through shelf life. The TDS discloses 1,2-benzisothiazol-3(2H)-one by name; it may cause allergic reactions in sensitised individuals — sealed wet-handling hygiene applies. SDS available on request from LEINOS India.
